Count Your Blessings
I just want to take a minute or two and share with you some of the ways God has provided in the last couple months.  I am a "budget" type guy and like to have a budget for almost everything. My wife, Misti is a little different. Over the last year or so we have been working to pay off all of our debt. We are almost completely there and by June the only debt we will have is our house.  Well, at the first of the year we were praying about what God would have us give to Missions.  I like to have the Missions in a budget so that we know we will be able to give it. Well this year we decided to keep the money that we had in our budget from Missions the year before and give extra as well. The extra we were going to step out by faith for, well kind of. We decided to take from another item of our budget that wasn't a necessity and pray that each month God would provide for that and if God chose not to then we would just do without that item for the month. So I guess it was kind of a half faith commitment and a half sacrificial commitment.  Well the day that I turned in our commitment card I got a card in the mail with a gift certificate that was almost as much as the amount we promised. We took this a sign that we had too little faith so we increased it again.  Each month it has been cool to see the way God has provided.  He provided us with a free washer, we have been able to buy a new dryer and also replace our Hot Water Heater, and God in his infinite wisdom knew all these things would be coming and he has provided. Not to mention we thought we were going to have to put $1,000 into our car but found out the warranty we got with the car covered it so we only had to pay the $50 deductible. That allowed us to put $900 into my truck so that it will actually turn on when I turn the key without having Derek get out and push; although he liked doing that.  God even allowed us to finally sell our house in Colorado, so we can pay off Misti's car.

We also are planning on going to Peru again this summer and for Misti and I to go it will cost us $2,400.  We have been praying and I know that God always provides the money some how. A couple weeks ago we had a  $100 deposit due. We didn't have the money, but on the same day the $100.00 was due we received a check from someone for $100.00. Then this past weekend another $700.00 was due for the trip and we really didn't have that much money. Well, the day before the money was due we received a $200.00 check and then the day after it was due we got a check in the mail with some extra money from our escrow on the house we just sold. There was enough on that to cover the rest of the $700.00 we needed plus the money we had promised for Missions. God truly is faithful to provide if we are willing to step out by faith and give to Him. As Pastor has said, "God won't owe anyone".

The only reason I share all of this with you is to encourage you to count your blessings. I am only wanting God to get the glory through this, because it truly is God who is providing for us. God is always blessing us, but this year I have been trying to make an effort to really notice when he does and to write it down.  Take a few minutes and just see how God has blessed and provided for you. Then take the time to thank him and share with someone else so you can be a blessing to them as well.
